On June 29–30, 2025, Kaja Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, paid an official visit to Armenia.
During her visit, Ms. Kallas met with President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan. The official meetings were followed by a joint press conference. She also visited the EU Mission’s office in Yeghegnadzor and held discussions with representatives of civil society organizations in Yerevan.
Edgar Khachatryan, Armenian National Facilitator of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum and President of Peace Dialogue NGO, was among the invited participants of the civil society meeting with Ms. Kallas. He shared insights on the future of Armenia-EU relations, highlighted challenges threatening Armenia’s democratic reforms, and proposed possible ways to address them. Mr. Khachatryan also emphasized the importance of the EU’s Eastern Partnership policy and the role of its civil society platforms in fostering mutual support and experience-sharing among civil society actors across the region.
