A Group of Armenian Public and Political Figures Visited the Embassy of Ukraine in Armenia

Today, on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine and as a sign of solidarity with the people of Ukraine who are heroically fighting against Russian aggression, a group of Armenian public and political figures and experts visited the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Armenia. Among them were Azat Arshakyan – a member of the first parliament of independent Armenia, a dissident from the Soviet period, a comrade-in-arms and cellmate of Ukrainian dissidents Yuri Shukhevich, Vasil Stus, Vyacheslav Chernovil, and others, Artur Sakunts – well-known human rights activist, Tigran Khzmalyan – the president of the European Party, Ruben Mehrabyan – the vice-president of the For the Republic Party, Arnold Bleyan – the board member of the same party, Armen Hovhannisyan – publicist, Armen Grigoryan – President of the Policy Research Center, and Hovsep Khurshudyan – Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum’s National Facilitator for Armenia.
They congratulated the people of Ukraine on the Independence Day of Ukraine in the presence of Victor Gonchar, the charge d’affaires of Ukrainian affairs in Armenia, military attaché Igor Zhadan, other diplomats of the embassy. They also expressed their deep condolences on the recent death of Alexander Senchenko, Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine in the Republic of Armenia, as a result of an accident.
The Armenian guests were interested in the situation in the war. The Ukrainian diplomats presented the difficult humanitarian situation caused by the Russian aggression, as well as the successes of the armed forces of Ukraine in liberating their homeland.
The prospects for the development of relations between Armenia and Ukraine, and the areas of possible cooperation, including between civil societies, were discussed.
