“Armenian National Platform of EaP CSF Condemns Georgian Authorities’ Violence Against Peaceful Protesters”

The Armenian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum (EaP CSF) has issued a statement condemning the violent actions of Georgian authorities against peaceful protesters. With deep concern and sorrow, the platform observes the brutal and disproportionate use of force, including tear gas, water cannons, and physical violence, by Georgian authorities against spontaneous peaceful gatherings in recent days.

The statement highlights that many civilians, including students, youth, and media representatives, have been injured as a result of these actions. The platform strongly condemns such violations of the people’s right to freely express their will, hold peaceful assemblies, and participate in democratic processes. It calls on Georgian authorities and security forces to refrain from actions that could lead to irreversible tragic consequences, warning that such undemocratic developments in Georgia could destabilize the broader region.

Expressing unwavering solidarity with the Georgian people, the platform wishes a swift recovery to those injured in the protests. It stands firmly alongside the Georgian National Platform of the EaP CSF, as well as all organizations and individuals advocating for democracy, freedom, human rights, and Georgia’s European integration. These values, the statement emphasizes, are enshrined in Georgia’s Constitution and reflect the will of its people.

The Armenian National Platform reiterates its commitment to supporting Georgia’s democratic aspirations and condemns any actions that undermine the nation’s European path and the principles of democracy in the region.
